Dragon Animation / VR 🐉

As part of an internship I was working on, I created some prototype animations of a puppeteer controlling a huge, magical dragon, and then turned this into a VR experience where the user could ride around on the dragon, from a first-person perspective. Others made the model of the dragon, and I set about to rig, shade, and animate it, as well as form a VR experience.
The dragon animation was made mostly using Blender, and the VR experience was developed in Unity, and shown using an Oculus Rift.
It was important that the dragon had a magical appearance to it, and there I worked on making a custom shader that would simulate an iridescent material. To model how the dragon would fly, I spent some time watching how birds move / fly, and tried to model this in the movements. See some stages of the animation below.
